Before Flying Home After Skin Treatment

Your flight home is part of your treatment plan. A little planning means you land with your results — not a list of questions.

Quick answer

Leave enough time between treatment and your flight for any expected swelling or redness to settle and for a check if needed. Light treatments such as LDM, pico toning or Botox are often fine shortly before travel, while fillers and stronger lasers are better earlier in your trip. Ask your doctor for a personal timing plan, and keep your clinic’s contact for aftercare once you’re home.

General timing guide

Treatment Planning suggestion
LDM, pico toning Usually fine close to travel
Botox Often fine within a day or two of flying; results develop over the following days
Ultherapy, Thermage Allow a day or two for any redness or tenderness
Skin boosters Allow a couple of days for bumps to settle
Fillers Earlier in the trip, so swelling can settle and the doctor can check
Resurfacing lasers As early as possible, with the recovery time your doctor advises

Frequently asked questions

Can I fly the day after Botox?

Many people do. Follow your doctor’s advice for the first hours after injection, and avoid pressing or massaging the area.

How many days before my flight should I get fillers?

Earlier in the trip is better, so any swelling or bruising can settle and the doctor can check the result. Ask your doctor for a specific recommendation.
