The short answer

What is fractional CO2, and is it right for you?

Fractional CO2 is an ablative laser that vaporises tiny columns of skin while leaving the surrounding skin intact. Healing triggers strong collagen remodelling, which improves deeper acne scars, wrinkles and rough texture more than gentler lasers.

At YAAN Clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, CO2 is used when stronger resurfacing is needed and you can allow about a week of recovery. Pricing is quoted at consultation.

Honest suitability

Who Fractional CO2 Laser suits, and who it doesn't

We would rather tell you what you don't need. These are general guides; your doctor confirms suitability after examining you.

Often a good fit

  • Deeper acne scars (rolling, boxcar)
  • Fine and moderate wrinkles
  • Rough texture and sun damage
  • People who can take about a week of downtime
  • Scars that have not responded to gentler treatment

Probably not the first choice

  • A short trip without recovery time; consider Potenza
  • Active acne or infection
  • Darker skin types with high pigment risk (needs careful settings)
  • Recent isotretinoin use (ask your doctor)
  • Keloid tendency
How it works

Controlled injury, strong renewal

Micro-columns: the laser removes tiny columns of skin.

Healing: surrounding skin regenerates quickly and builds new collagen.

Settings: depth and density are adjusted to scar depth and skin type. Gentler options include erbium and pico fractional.
