The short answer

What is pico toning, and is it right for you?

Pico toning is a low-energy picosecond laser treatment that breaks up pigment into tiny particles. Because the pulses are extremely short, pigment is shattered mainly by pressure (photoacoustic effect) rather than heat, which lowers the risk of rebound pigmentation.

At YAAN Clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, pico toning is used for melasma, uneven tone, dullness, freckles and post-acne marks. Each session is ₩150,000, and a course of 5–10 sessions about 1–2 weeks apart is typical.

Honest suitability

Who Pico Toning suits, and who it doesn't

We would rather tell you what you don't need. These are general guides; your doctor confirms suitability after examining you.

Often a good fit

  • Melasma and diffuse pigmentation (as part of a careful plan)
  • Dull, uneven or blotchy skin tone
  • Freckles, sun spots and post-acne marks
  • Sensitive or Asian skin prone to rebound pigmentation
  • People who want no peeling and no downtime

Probably not the first choice

  • Deep, defined dark spots, where a targeted pico laser spot treatment is faster
  • Redness and visible vessels, where V-beam or Excel V fits better
  • Acne scars and texture, where Potenza or pico fractional may suit
  • A recent tan or sunburn
  • Use of photosensitising medication without doctor review
How it works

Picosecond pulses, gentle on skin

Pico toning delivers very short, low-energy pulses evenly across the face.

Pigment fragmentation: picosecond pulses break melanin into fine particles that the body clears.

Less heat: because pulses are so short, surrounding skin is spared, reducing irritation and rebound pigmentation.

Toning plus fractional: pico fractional mode can also refine texture and pores. See pico fractional prices and compare with classic laser toning.
